An all new helmet from Scorpion, the EXO-T1200 is intended to be the company’s premier touring/sport touring lid. Similar to the EXO-R2000 in regards to its construction, the T1200 gets the lightweight TCT composite shell, the same sleek fitting faceshield and the handy AirFit system. Touring specific designs include a 3 position drop down sunshield and the new VSV (Venturi Super Vent) ventilation system. And yet even with its premier status in the Scorpion line, the EXO-T1200 still comes in less than most of its direct competition.
Icon is releasing a new, more race ready helmet and as a nice bonus, the Airframe Pro is being offered in either your choice of carbon fiber or composite shell materials. Compared to the previous Airframe, both versions feature an aggressively sculpted aerodynamic shell, expanded line of sight when in the tucked-in position and a customizable five piece inner liner. And as always, if you want over-the-top style, Icon haven’t toned down their design department.
Premium Scorpion craftsmanship at a price that is still lower than the competition. Answering the call for a MotoGP caliber helmet, Scorpion created the EXO-R2000 as an entirely new design that compromises nothing whether at the track or on the street. Using Scorpion’s own special composite blend, a shell was formed that stays light and strong while its 4 shell sizes ensure a perfect fit. A channeled EPS liner combines with the AirFit® Liner Inflation System to create an interior that stays comfortable and flows plenty of air. From the dual density foam to the sleek and symmetrical face shield and the titanium d-ring, the Scorpion EXO-R2000 helmet has the detailing to be the envy of motorcyclists everywhere.
Shoei’s name means that as a company they are naturally expected to make a great touring helmet and thankfully, the Qwest can handle this pressure. Shaped by what Shoei claims to be countless hours in their very own wind tunnel, important details like shell design and foam placement have been refined to cancel out noise and reduce drag and lift. The ventilation system is also wind tunnel tested and this has resulted in large upper intakes and rear exhaust vents that maximize the Venturi effect. The proven ORSA shield carries over from other helmet models like the X-Twelve and when combined with Shoei’s typical knack for quality, the Qwest becomes a very, competent touring helmet.
The first full face Shoei helmet to feature an internal sun shield, the GT-AIR is a potent offering breaking new ground on the future of motorcycle helmet safety. Not content with just slapping on a sun shield for the sake of convenience, Shoei has reengineered its shell designs to accommodate and improve the concept. Elsewhere, its slippery, wind tunnel tested shape improves ventilation while staying comfortable at buffeting speeds. Pieced together, the completed offering is a superbly competent all a-rounder. From cruiser to sport touring to sportbike, the Shoei GT-AIR is a new beginning in street motorcycle excellence.
