HJC’s replacement to the CL-16, the CL-17 isn’t just one digit more name wise, it is a nice evolution of an already very good budget helmet. Not groundbreaking in construction, the design is nevertheless well thought-out and well put together. The lighter and stronger polycarbonate composite shell is a nice step forward, as well is the refined ACS ventilation system which makes a big difference in improving ride comfort. Shield changes are done by way of HJC’s very easy to use Rapidfire™ system and though not equipped with Pinlock®, the shield is prepared for it. The oversized eye port is extremely wide for greater peripheral vision and downward visibility, and the modular chin bar can be conveniently flipped up when you stop to get gas or ask for directions.
