The EXO-R710 is Scorpion’s latest edition to the popular R-Series with a feature list that is unparalleled in the sub $200 fiberglass helmet category. Advanced features like the Fiberglass / Aramid Matrix Shell, Ellip-Tec® Base Plate System, Everclear® No-Fog Face Shield and Emergency Release Cheek Pads allow the EXO-R710 to be at home in the canyons, while commuting or during closed course competition.
Slotting in to replace the N90 as Nolan’s value priced modular helmet, the new N91 features a couple key improvements but thankfully hasn’t increased its price over its predecessor. Besides the more modern and angular shell design, the real big difference to the N90 is the overhauled ventilation system. A more simplified system, the N91 now features one large chin vent, one large forehead vent and a prominent Venturi vent on the back. Both the easy to use drop down sun shield and flip up chin bar remain and combined with the more intermediate oval fit, the N91 should appeal to an even wider range of touring riders.
A HJC modular helmet that’s hard to fault, the CL-Max II Atomic brings together good value with an easy to use flip-up chin bar. Actuated by a single button, the bar is simple and natural feeling to open and close. Venting is basic yet effective and though using the more conventional polycarbonate composite shell material, the CL-Max II isn’t noticeably heavier than any of its much more expensive competitors.
As every SCHUBERTH motorcycle helmet, the S2 Sport features reflecting pads on the helmet edge. This ensures that you are easy to spot in the dark. Selected COOLMAX® textiles on the inside are responsible for the fast and reliable transport of moisture to the outside and for providing a comfortable inner helmet temperature for the rider. Ventilation openings can be opened or closed through a summer or winter position of the upholstery. The inner lining is constructed in such a way that a comfortable ventilation is possible. The cushioning is anti-allergenic and antibacterial. Furthermore, it can be removed and washed.
When you write out a list of the features you want in a helmet, the GMax GM32 surprisingly meets just about all of them. It’s got a visor that snaps on and off, a drop down sunshield and an interior that is moisture wicking and removable. Venting is already going to be good on a 3/4 but GMax has nevertheless still taken the time to add vents above the brow and along the back. And because this is a GMax, the price is hard to beat.
