Quite possibly GMax’s best kept secret, the GM45S Modular helmet hides an impressive amount of features under its very low price tag. Literally standing out from its competition, the GM54s comes with a three position LED light bar integrated into the back of the shell. Alternating between steady, slow and fast flash, the light makes a big difference in visibility during night riding. Venting-wise adjustable air vents are in no short supply and can be seen prominently across the chin, forehead and rear. The drop down sunshield is a one finger operation and with the flip up chin bar locking metal to metal, the action is smooth and light. All things considered, if you’re looking at a flip up helmet this GMax should be one to think about.
The first full face Shoei helmet to feature an internal sun shield, the GT-AIR is a potent offering breaking new ground on the future of motorcycle helmet safety. Not content with just slapping on a sun shield for the sake of convenience, Shoei has reengineered its shell designs to accommodate and improve the concept. Elsewhere, its slippery, wind tunnel tested shape improves ventilation while staying comfortable at buffeting speeds. Pieced together, the completed offering is a superbly competent all a-rounder. From cruiser to sport touring to sportbike, the Shoei GT-AIR is a new beginning in street motorcycle excellence.
Take the fun out of it!? Why not try adding some bluetooth speakers to your helmet or getting a bluetooth helmet that you can play all the music that you want and ride for as long as you want? There are some many ways to have fun when riding a bike, and choosing to not wear a helmet because it will “take the fun out of it” is a pretty lame excuse if you ask me.
A helmet line that goes back to the early eighties, the RF is the helmet that helped build Shoei’s reputation. The RF-1100 was one of the best all-around street bike helmets and now its successor the Shoei RF-1200 enters the market to take its place. Easily capable of sport riding, touring and commuting, the RF-1200 embodies the saying solidly built. From the liner to the air vents to the click of the face shield locking, this is a helmet that defines quality.
An all new helmet from Scorpion, the EXO-T1200 is intended to be the company’s premier touring/sport touring lid. Similar to the EXO-R2000 in regards to its construction, the T1200 gets the lightweight TCT composite shell, the same sleek fitting faceshield and the handy AirFit system. Touring specific designs include a 3 position drop down sunshield and the new VSV (Venturi Super Vent) ventilation system. And yet even with its premier status in the Scorpion line, the EXO-T1200 still comes in less than most of its direct competition.
